Local Scholarships

Scholarship info for Virgin Valley HS students only.

 

Many local businesses and private donors provide scholarship opportunities for our VVHS graduates.  

 

To view a list of current local scholarships click HERE.

Students can access applications for these scholarships through their Mentorship Class on Canvas.  Each scholarship application is seen as an assignment in the Module “Local Scholarships”.

 

The General Application requires students to upload a PDF of the following: resume, cover letter, transcript, and 3 letters of recommendation (1 NOT from a teacher or coach).

FAFSA - visit StudentAid.gov

Information on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid including grants, work-study, and loans. FAFSA will be available in December 2024.  Students and parent(s) EACH NEED an FSA ID number. This can take up to 3-5 business days to approve. Start with creating your FSA ID account at the following site: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch

NV Prepaid Tuition Options - https://nvigate.gov/

 

Millennium Scholarship (see Flier) - Students do not need to do anything to apply. All info will be shared with the state. Instructions for checking your status may be found at the following website: https://www.nevadatreasurer.gov/GGMS/GGMS_Home/

 

NV Promise Scholarship - a last dollar scholarship. This means that whatever tuition is not covered by grants or other scholarships, the NV Promise Scholarship will pay the rest of your tuition. So you can go to school tuition free and remain debt free. The link to apply at CSN is HERE.

The Deadline to apply is October 31, 2024

The NV Promise Scholarship works at the 4 community colleges in Nevada:

College of Southern Nevada (CSN) - Located in Mesquite, Las Vegas and Henderson

Great Basin - Located in Elko, NV with satellite campuses in Ely, Pahrump, Battle Mountain and Winnemucca

Truckee Meadows Community College- Located in Reno, NV

Western Nevada College - Located in Carson City, NV

You can apply for the NV Promise Scholarship on any of these school's websites.  NV Promise virtual and in person workshops are also available (please see flier below).

The application takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. If you choose to go to another school besides CSN simply click that school's name when applying. If you decide to attend one of the other schools, the application can be changed for that location by calling the school you wish to attend.
