Purpose of the VVHS Hall of Fame

The purpose of the VVHS Hall of Fame is to honor and recognize outstanding individuals who have had a significant and lasting impact on the lives of the youth of Virgin Valley through their involvement in high school athletic programs as a coach, athlete or contributor (administrator, athletic director, booster, sports writer, teacher, etc.).

Nomination Procedures

1. Candidates can be nominated by anyone before the specified deadline.

2. Anyone can submit a nomination by completing the on-line application. (Click Here) or contact the Virgin Valley Athletics office for an application at (702) 346-2780 x4200.

3. After reviewing the nomination applications, the VVHS selection committee will send letters to the recommended individuals and include an application for the nominee to complete.

4. The Selection Committee will be composed of representatives from Virgin Valley High School or the community. The names of the selection committee will be confidential.

5. The Selection Committee will review the nominations/applications and make recommendations for final approval.

6. Inductees will be formally honored at the homecoming football game. Hall of Fame members will also be recognized at local events within the community.

Nomination Deadlines

All nominations must be completed online or received in the Virgin Valley High School Athletic office no later than May 13th, 2016. All applications will remain in an active file.

Awards

1. Inductees will receive a plaque and a lifetime pass to all Virgin Valley High School events.

2. Inductees will have a plaque placed on the VVHS "Wall of Fame".

3. Awards will be presented at a dinner the day of homecoming.

General Criteria

Nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and moral character.

1. Athletes: Will be eligible for nomination ten years after high school graduation.

2. Coaches, contributors, teachers, administrators, athletic directors or sports writers: Will be eligible upon nomination.

An individual may be nominated in more than one category. The categories of Athlete, Coach and Other are included on the nomination form for expediency in understanding the primary area(s) in which an individual is to be considered for their achievements in interscholastic activities. The grouping is for screening purposes only and to assist those making the nominations. Once nominees are inducted, they are not to be categorized, but all are recognized as members of the Virgin Valley High School Hall of Fame.

To further explain, athletes would be former student participants who are being nominated for their achievements in interscholastic athletics. Coaches would be considered on the merits of their high school coaching achievements only. And Others would be individuals who have made a contribution to Virgin Valley High School Athletics in some capacity other than those previously mentioned, including such areas a sports medicine, sports media, etc.
