VVHS School Performance Plan

The Virgin Valley High School Performance Plan (SPP)

Purpose The School Performance Plan (SPP) is a strategic, data-driven roadmap designed to improve student achievement and overall school effectiveness. In accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS 385A.650), every public school must develop an annual plan to enhance the academic performance of its students. The SPP serves as the primary tool for aligning school-level goals with district-wide priorities and state standards.

Function and Process The SPP is not a static document but a continuous improvement cycle that involves three main stages:

  1. Comprehensive Needs Assessment: The school analyzes a wide range of data, including state assessment scores (NSPF), graduation rates, attendance, and English Language Learner (ELL) progress, to identify specific areas of concern and "root causes" for achievement gaps.

  2. Action Planning: Based on this analysis, the school sets measurable goals and selects evidence-based strategies to address them. This includes identifying necessary resources, professional development for staff, and specific action steps to be taken throughout the school year.

  3. Monitoring and Evaluation: The plan is a "living document" that is reviewed regularly. CCSD Academic Unit facilitators conduct mid-year and end-of-year monitoring meetings to evaluate progress and determine if adjustments are needed to keep the school on track toward its goals.

Collaboration and Accountability Development of the SPP is a collaborative effort led by the principal in consultation with the School Organizational Team (SOT), which includes teachers, staff, and parents. This ensures that the plan reflects the shared values and needs of the entire Virgin Valley community. By maintaining transparency and focusing on data-informed decisions, the SPP helps ensure that all students—regardless of background—have the support they need to graduate future-ready and globally prepared.

A Roadmap to Success Virgin Valley High School has established its School Performance Plan for the school year. This plan was developed by the school’s continuous improvement (CI) team and informed by a comprehensive needs assessment that included data analysis and meaningful engagement with the school community. It includes the school's goals and process developed during Act 1. The CI team will monitor implementation throughout the school year and evaluate and update the goals at the end of the year.
